Jewish ghetto - West side

The ghetto was an area closed off not by walls, but by a series of houses, one next to the other, that created a sort of "fence" within which Jewish citizens were forced to live.
Opening towards the outside in this "fence" were closed, and the entire area was only accessible through four main gates and a few secondary entrances.
The Northern side of the ghetto was made up of the succession of the structure of Palazzo della Ragione, Torre dell'Orologio, and a series of cottages that entirely hid the Rotonda di San Lorenzo.
On one side of this was one of the gates to the ghetto.
