Mantova2016 embraces its lakes, rich in mythological references and literary traditions.
An archipelago of islands that barely rise out of the water, whose shape recalls the leaves of the lotus flower that flourishes in these lakes, will be built to transform these pools of water into a new space.
The archipelago will be built with sustainable and recyclable materials, and Mantua’s citizens will contribute to the project with a series of workshops.
The Archipelago will be mobile and reconfigurable, continuously changing, and it will be a location for music, theatre and performances dedicated to Mantua’s relationship with water, a central element of the city's landscape for almost a thousand years.
