Palazzo Valenti Gonzaga

In the façade, one may notice the manner of Sebregondi, the architect who also designed Villa La Favorita.
The stuccoes in the courtyard and rooms are later additions: the courtyard is attributed to the Flemish architect Frans Geffels, while the decorations in the rooms are attributed to Battista Barberini.
The Valenti Gonzaga family followed the decline of the Gonzagas, and the home was abandoned until, around 1990, it was subjected to restoration work that restored its original splendour.
On the noble floor is the Galeria Museo Valenti Gonzaga, a museum with permanent and temporary exhibitions including frescoes by Geffels, statues by Barberini, and a collection of antique and rare books.
