Vasily Grossman’s novel Life and Fate is widely seen as the War and Peace of the Second World War and the Stalinist era.
Grossman’s raw material came from his time as a war correspondent.
Antony Beevor and Lyuba Vinogradova discovered his original notebooks in a Russian archive, and edited them under the title A Writer at War for translation in many languages.
Antony Beevor will be talking about Grossman’s life, work and importance.
