Jewish ghetto - Sermide Place

Up until 1878, in the place of this piazza there was a group of homes, surrounded by two narrow alleys called "dell'Olio" and "Tombino".
A fire devastated the complex which, for financial reasons, was not rebuilt.
Instead, an ample green area was created in its place.
The new piazza is dedicated to the town of Sermide which, in 1848, in spite of the generous help of the local Jewish community, was devastated by the Austrian troops.
